I have been a longtime and dedicated HUHTC volunteer and I love being able to share the children’s stories through photography, writing and video. Working on this website was a great pleasure.

This is a project I had started at the Vancouver Film School, in the Digital Design (DD) program, and a few years later, with the support of Sylvie Monette and KPMG, was able to put into realization. Thank you DD21 classmates and staff for the guidance, and Sylvie for the motivation and support! I turned to a great friend Andrij Kuchanskij in Lviv for programming support, and with his team at AKMG (in Lviv, Ukraine) we were able to complete this project.

HUHTC, this project (website) is for you. I have been so moved time and time again by everyone involved. I hope with this site volunteers and sponsors can be recognized for their endless support. Those involved can write and share their HUHTC experiences. New and recurring visitors can be informed, get involved, make donations, and in turn, positively change and affect the lives of many more inspiring children.

With HUHTC, I have had the privilege to meet many children, be moved by their stories and their unimaginable strength to overcome some of life’s most difficult challenges. What most effected me was being witness to their progress within the program, their lives changed and transformed thanks to HUHTC’s many wonderful projects, initiatives and hard working volunteers.

These children and this organization has, in many ways, changed and transformed my life. There is nothing that can express the wide range of emotions experienced and different kinds of realizations I have had during my time as a volunteer. At the summer camps, you begin to understand life. Real and raw. The importance of some of the most basic human needs: To feel safe, be loved and cared for, accepted, understood, remembered. To have support and a sense of family – a family that can span across oceans and countries, but that can provide a sense of unity and belonging none the less.

To those reading, I hope you become as inspired by this organization and these children as I have.
